Yoga for Kids With Kelley Zink
ages 6-13

Let's face it, children today are under a lot of stress! There's homework, pressure to compete with other children, endless after-school activities, over-scheduling -- it all adds up. And just like their parents, kids today are turning to Yoga to help them relax and get focused. Yoga has been shown to help hyperactive and attention-deficit children. These children crave movement and sensory/motor stimulus. Yoga helps channel these impulses in a positive way.

This class is geared to ages 6-13 to offer a fun, creative approach to yoga. We will use animated poses and basic stretching exercises to promote strength, flexibility, coordination and body awareness. The breathing and visualization techniques offered will teach kids how to focus, relax and develop self-control. Kids will improve concentration and focus, stimulate their imagination and help to release energy in a fun, safe environment. Our class promotes inner-strength, confidence and self-esteem; a feeling of well-being and respect for others; and, love for one's self, inside and out.

She graduated from the Hatha Yoga Teacher Training Program (200-hour) at the Temple of Kriya Yoga in Chicago and continues studies through the Temple. Kelley also received certification to teach Prenatal Yoga through Global Yoga Center under the guidance of Rhonda Kantor. Her classes focus on body alignment for safety in practice, as well as breath awareness to connect body and mind.
